Artists' Guidelines and Commitment Application
Call For Entry - Stapleton Open Studios 2019
Event Dates: September 28th and 29th, 2019 (Sat and Sun)
Entry deadline: Monday, March 25, 2019
Only entries with completed signed agreement, application fee and images for the jury process received by March 25, 2019, 11:00 pm MST will be considered. Notification of acceptance will be emailed to each artist by April 1, 2019. The first meeting for Open Studios’ artist will be April 8, 2019.
Artists must live or work within the Stapleton community.
Artists must agree to provide an educational component for visitors by demonstrating their creative process
and materials; displaying the basic steps in completing their work, or verbally discussing the process of their
work for visitors.
Artists must derive a portion of their income from their art.
Artists must have a minimum of 12 pieces to be exhibited during Open Studios. New work is highly
Artists must agree to be in their studio during all hours of the Open Studios event.
Artists must be responsible for all required City, County and State Sales Tax in the event of sales during the
Open Studios. All proceeds from sales remain the artist’s; no commission is paid to the organization.
Studios must be within the Stapleton development area. Artists are allowed to group together in one location
for the show if desired (see Studio Options below).
An application fee of $75.00 must accompany the Commitment Application. If you are a member of Stapleton
Artists Organization, your discounted application fee is $50.00. Sponsorship is imperative for the continuation of the tour; therefore an additional fee of $50 will be imposed on each artist that does not secure at least one sponsor for the tour. Artists who contribute to committee leadership (website, social media and sign committee) are exempt from the additional fee of $50.
Six monthly meetings leading up to the event in September are scheduled to organize, coordinate and inform the artists. Artists are encourage to attend all meetings, and are required to attend at least 3 of the six meetings. The final meeting in September is a mandatory meeting of all artists or their representative.
Please prepare 2 recent digital images in jpeg format at 72 ppi with the longest side being 1500 pixels (under 2MB). Each jpeg file needs to be named with SOS, your initials, an underscore and the title. For example, if your initials are JK and the title of your entry is "beautiful", you would name your file as follows: SOSJK_beautiful.jpg. Please e-mail images to TourCoordinator@StapletonArtists.org
If accepted, we will need a high res image and artist statement of 70 words or less by May 6, 2019. Please note Images and information submitted may be used in promotional materials for Stapleton Open Studios. The image of your choice will be entered into competition for the 2019 commemorative poster.
